Frequently Asked Questions

  • No experience is needed, but it is best for you to begin early in the semester (September or January), since each week new skills are taught, building on what was previously learned 
  • We have all levels of learners, dancing together as we develop our skills
  • Everyone is welcome!  If you are interested mid-semester come watch any time to learn more about Scottish Country Dancing – Check our calendar for class dates
  • Wear soft-soled shoes
  • Ghillies are the typical dance shoe for Scottish Country dancing, although other shoes may be worn
  • Some wear jazz shoes for practice
     
  • The first lesson is free
  • Beginners pay $30 per person per semester (total $60 for the year)
  • After the first year, you are a full member which is presently $55 per person per semester (total $110 for the year)
  • Ages vary from teens (12 & up) to senior adults
  • In person dance classes are held weekly on Tuesdays, September – June:
      • For beginners (7:30-8:30pm)
      • Members (7:30 – 10:00pm)
  • We use the Guilford County School schedule for closings
  • No partner needed – Singles are welcome
  • No, you do not need to preregister.  Just show up and start dancing!
